Stripe configuration checklist

Since Stripe offers a lot of functionalities, we have created a complete checklist of everything you need to configure before you start using Connhex Pay.

All the steps below can be carried out through Stripe's dashboard: make sure you double-check the Test mode toggle button - untoggle if you want to publish your changes to Connhex Pay!

Should you have any doubt while following this checklist, remember we're here to help!

1: Products

For a brief overview over products, plans and prices see here.

In short, products are what your customers can buy. You can create products and pricing plans here: https://dashboard.stripe.com/products.

2: Branding

Branding resources are used to create a unified experience across all of Stripe's products used by your customers. To do so, visit: https://dashboard.stripe.com/settings/branding

3: Billing

From https://dashboard.stripe.com/settings/billing/automatic you can configure subscriptions and automated emails - for example, how to handle trial period expiry, contested payments, and so on.

If you want to send an email reminder before the trial period ends, remember to select "Link to a page hosted by Stripe" (the user will be redirected to the Billing Portal, see below).

4: Billing Portal - a.k.a. Customer Portal

The billing portal allows your customers to see and manage active subscriptions on their own. You need to define whether:

  • customers can edit their plans or not (thus only the unsubscribe option remains available). If so, you need to specify the plans one can upgrade and downgrade between
  • plans can be bought in multiple quantities or not

To do so, visit: https://dashboard.stripe.com/settings/billing/portal

Customer view

If you forget this step, customers will get an error message when trying to access their portal page - prompting them to contact you.
