Provisioning key

Usage

A provisioning key should be only used in situations where using an initialization key or a migration key is impractical.

Updating the testing procedure to be able to insert a new key inside the device is not always feasible. Similar difficulties may also arise if it is not possible to use an identifier that is already on the device.

In these cases, it is possible to have the device itself generate an arbitrary key (provisioning key) and communicate it to Connhex Remote Init. This provisioning key is temporarily stored in a dedicated database, waiting for approval. Once approved, the provisioning key is promoted to a migration key and moved to the dedicated database.

From this point on, the process will continue as a migration key procedure.
